“Ariata” and “kantada”, are the love songs of Kefalonia

“Ariata” and “kantada” is the folklore music of Kefalonia inspired originally by the songs of the sailors coming back from Genoa. It is said that the first to sing those songs where the local fishermen in the taverns. Soon, this beautiful combination of poetry and melody transformed by the local artists into the music that you could hear all over Kefalonia.

This folklore melodies are sung in matzore. “Ariata” and “kantada” are songs joyful and optimistic that celebrate love and life.
